Americans Against Self-Help Fraud is pleased to announce the 2012 “winners” of the Scammy Awards, given to Self-Help Gurus for "excellence" in ripping off Americans with their falsehoods, false hopes, myths & half-truths! 

The intention of the awards is to ensure that these Self-Help Gurus receive the attention they deserve. The winners were determined by the general public through an online survey, and this year’s response shows that many Americans care about the negative impact that the highly profitable “Self-Help Industrial Complex" is having on America.
 
The winners in each of the seven categories are:
 
1. Dumb Speak Award - Vianna Stibal

Given for the most unintelligent thing uttered by a self-help guru. Runner-up: James Ray

2. Hypocrite Award - James Ray

Given to the self-help guru with the biggest gap between their professed values and how they actually behave.

3. Daddy Big Bucks Award - Joe Vitale

Given to the self-help guru whose lifestyle shows that they are only in it for the money.

4. Hoodwinked Award - James Ray

Given to the self-help guru who did the best job of tricking celebrities into being their sponsor.
Runner-up: Vianna Stibal

5. Charlie Sheen Bi-Polar Award - James Ray

Given to the self-help guru whose promises got the opposite results.

6. Best Performance in a Mis-Leading Role Award - James Ray

Given to the self-help guru who did the best job of deceiving the public. Runner-up: Vianna Stibal

7. Bernie Madoff Lifetime Mis-Achievement Award - Vianna Stibal

Given to the best, all around self-help guru who did the most to diminish the human race.
